With fall sports around the corner, Priest River football team is in need of players.

The Spartans’ preseason turnout puts them in jeopardy of not having a junior varsity team this year.

Without the depth from the JV and the swing players, the Spartans also run the risk of having a thin roster, which could derail their goals of making the state tournament for the first time since 2017.

For 9-12th grade students who are interested in playing football this year, please contact Priest River head coach Jared Hughes at 208-627-2409.

Both the team and the school have people whom not only can help with the necessary athletic and medical paperwork, but also some costs, in the event that either of those things are an issue.

After all: Robbie Anselmo, Keegan Hegel, Arron Reyes and Colby Poe all started somewhere.

The next group of seniors who will take their places can still be out there.
