Marion Elizabeth Jacobson,

97, passed away peacefully at her home in Sandpoint on Thursday, April 1, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Tori Hicks officiating.

Marion was born in Lake Forest, Ill., on Jan. 11, 1907, to Karen and Carl Jensen.

She graduated from Simpson College in Iowa and taught English and literature at Dunlap, Iowa, and Fort Madison (Iowa) Junior High School.

She married E. Paul Jacobson in June of 1934. She lived in several Iowa towns as well as Whitefish Bay, Wis., and Des Plaines, Ill.

She and her husband moved to Sandpoint in 1985.

Marion was active in the Sandpoint United Methodist Church, the American Association of University Women and the Sandpoint Civic Club, where she served as a past president.

She loved to travel, read and grow flowers. Marion was a wonderful, loving mother and wife.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Jacobson; their four children, Lorraine Arden of Washington, D.C., Mary Kimsey and Lusijah Marx of Portland, Ore., and Paul Jacobson of Murphys, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and four brothers. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one grandson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sandpoint United Methodist Church.
