Lyle Wallace Bergstrom, 89

Lyle Wallace Bergstrom, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Sandpoint after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2004, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel with Pastor Steve Nickodemus of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

Lyle was born in Sandpoint on March 16, 1915, the son of Walfred and Freda (Anderson) Bergstrom. he grew up in Sandpoint and attended local schools here, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1933. Lyle was active in sports during his school years.

He and Margaret Ulrich grew up and attended school together and on Jan. 31, 1942, were married in Missoula, Mont. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in January 2004.

Lyle served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. After his military service, he worked at several Sandpoint businesses and retired from Pack River Lumber Company in 1979.

In his early years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Later, he enjoyed spending time working in the yard and visiting with neighbors, family and friends. He was a longtime member of the BPOE Lodge No. 1376.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bergstrom of Sandpoint; a son, Lyle W. (Marla) Bergstrom Jr. of Sandpoint; two daughters, Susan (Greg) Cusick of Kalispell, Mont. and Vicki Bergstrom of Sammamish, Wash.; a brother, Gary (Barbara) Bergstrom of Bellingham, Wash.; and his grandchildren, Emily Bergstrom, Jon Bergstrom, Michelle Motichka, Erika Cusick and Ryan Cusick. Four great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Myrvin, Swante and Robert.
