Miners dig past Spartans

| April 9, 2004 9:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER—The Wallace Miners traveled to face the Priest River Spartans on spring break, and went home with a hard fought victory. The teams were tied at one a piece in the third inning, and didn't score again till the sixth. In the eight inning, the Miners went ahead by one to take the game at 5-4.

The Miner's Shiner had two singles and a home run to lead the team. Jeremy Patterson had a double and triple to be the hot bat for the Spartans. The Spartans committed six errors, double that of the Miners.

Coach Lou Musso was impressed with the drive of both teams to come out on top. His Spartans will face Lakeland today at 11a.m. on the Hawks home field. They will play host to the Bonners Ferry Badgers on Tuesday, April 13 at 4 p.m.
