Adrienne Nelson opens new catering business

| April 13, 2004 9:00 PM

Spring is here and that means the party season is just around the corner. If you are planning a special event Adrienne Nelson promises "inspired elegance" to make it a success.

After three years working for Dr. Forrest Bird and making delicious food for his professional seminars, Nelson has launched her own business, Adrienne's Catering.

In addition to supplying the food, Nelson will assist in planning the entire event - entertainers and musicians, tents and tables, food, flowers and photography.

"My goal is make sure the day goes smoothly, from planning to cleaning up the mess," said Nelson.

Nelson, who launched her business last month, said the idea just grew. Guests at Dr. Bird's events asked her about helping out with their parties. Requests began to build. "So here we are," she said.

Nelson, who home-schools her children, ages 7, 6 and 2, said once the kids were old enough starting up her own business seemed like a good idea. "I've been trying things out on my family long enough," she said.

"I didn't know how good I was," Nelson said with a laugh, "until I was using Dr. Bird's budget, not my own."

She obtained master gardner credentials through the University of Idaho and will use homegrown fresh produce in her food preparations. Nelson also has completed the safety and sanitation course at the Bonner Business Center, and obtained her food handlers license and liability insurance.

Nelson manages the business side of Adrienne's Catering out of her home in Sagle and rents the professional kitchen at the Bonner Business Center to prepare food.

Recently, she supplied lunch for the Leadership Sandpoint group at the Bonner Business Center. The oven roasted salmon with dijon and huckleberry sauce was a hit.
