Food Barn Discount opens doors

PRIEST RIVER — Robert Kovacs and Debra Baker, owners of "The Food Barn Discount Store" recently opened the barn doors to the public.

The approximate 1,500 square foot building is located at the corner of Church and High.

"Selling food is the name of our game," said Kovacs. He and Baker decided to "start from scratch" in the formation of their business venture that offers discount pricing of groceries to the public.

"We're a small discount grocery store, and we want to offer the community groceries at affordable prices. I don't believe in paying high prices for food. Food is expensive in Idaho," he said.

The Food Barn will carry most groceries that other grocery stores carry, including the basic bread, milk, cheese, butter, lunch meat, ice cream, pizza, frozen items, canned goods, etcetera.

"We offer food to the public at affordable prices and at a good savings," he said. "We don't make a lot on the sale of our groceries, but our goal is to offer the community commodities at prices they can afford."

Kovacs and Baker can be reached at The Food Barn by stopping by or calling (208) 448-2033.
