Fudge makes sweet return at 'Great Stuff'

SANDPOINT — Half a dozen yummy flavors of downtown's favorite handmade fudge are back at "Great Stuff," formerly "The Zoo." New owner, Robin Campbell, purchased the store from Mel and Lor Wachter.

Great Stuff carries an extensive selection of quality baskets, gifts, home decor, nautical and airplane reproductions, and the Wachter's creamy fudge, as well as a selection of bagged candy and nuts.

"The Zoo" was very successful," Campbell said. "And I want to keep the exotic, eclectic, fun feeling, but add some of my own personality."

Campbell said that there is a story behind almost every item in the store.

The store carries a collection of Victorian balance toys. A large whale opens and closes his mouth and rocks side to side while his eye follows the customer around the store. A cowboy can be seen galloping on his horse, and a salty fisherman rows his rustic dory.

Campbell carries an impressive collection of leather elephants, giraffes and monkeys in all sizes, as well as baskets and a tempting array of sweet treats.

"While a store like mine has to appeal to tourists, I want local residents to love coming in just to see what's new, or to look for a special gift or the perfect accent piece for their home," she said.

Campbell shopped the Seattle Gift Center in February and attended the Dallas Gift Show last month.

Great Stuff is located at 311 N. First Ave. For more information call Campbell at (208) 265-5060.
