IML battle in Bonners

BONNERS FERRY — The Lakeland and Bonners Ferry boys track teams were in a dead heat with two events to go in Thursday's Intermountain League double-duals.

But Bonners swept the 1,600 meters with a one-two-three finish to put the thing out of reach going into the final event of the day — the 4x400 relay.

"We had some pretty good performances I thought," Lakeland coach Lee Libera said. "We were hoping it would come down the the 4x400, but they just killed us in the 1,600.

"But I thought we competed well."

The Badger boys edge the Hawks 74-71 and Spartans 79-61 while the girls outran Lakeland 84-62 and Priest River 94-45.

In a non-league meet, the Lakeland topped Priest River 77-68 while the Spartan girls won 72 1/2-70-1/2.
