Local tennis players rising to the challenge

SANDPOINT — Despite sweeping Moscow in three straight girls singles matches, with victories by Kelsey James, Lauren Fiedler and Cody Helander, the Bulldogs finished in a 6-6 tie with the Bears Wednesday at Travers Park.

Tim Neidhardt-Del Armstrong earned a win in the No. 1 boys doubles match, while Liam Orton-Zibby Keaton won the mixed doubles match. Patrick Hoffman was the only Bulldog to win his boys singles match.

Sandpoint will host Lewiston at Travers on Saturday.

In junior varsity action, the Bulldogs topped their Moscow counterparts 6-4.

CLARK FORK — Playing tennis on the road against Deary, Culdesac and Troy high schools, the Wampus Cats finished strong with 14 victories out of a total of 20 matches on Saturday.

Both Rayna Allen and Reina Hagstrom remain undefeated in match play for Clark Fork.
