Gordon Frank Mead, 85

Gordon Frank Mead, 85, passed away at his home in Trestle Creek on Aug. 2, 2004.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in Seneacquoteen Cemetery. Pastor Tori Hicks, United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Friends are invited to call to pay their respects on Friday from 3-6 p.m. at Coffelt's Moon Chapel.

Gordon was born in Spokane, Wash., on Aug. 6, 1918, and graduated from Priest River High School in 1935. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served with the Seabees in the Pacific, obtaining the rank of chief petty officer.

He married Alice Arnold on Oct. 31, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2000.

Following the war, he went to work for the General Land Office and spent time surveying in Alaska for the railroads. He was employed as a highway engineer for the Bureau of Public Roads, working in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. He moved to his home on Trestle Creek on June 2, 1968, and retired in 1973.

He married Mary M. Bentley on June 3, 2001, in Kellogg.

He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Mead of Trestle Creek; two sons, Gordon Mead of Pinehurst and William Mead of Post Falls; seven stepchildren; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Emelia Tebaldi of California; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Mead of Spokane Valley, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice; two brothers and a sister.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
