Library doll house raffle attracts many admirers

| December 8, 2004 8:00 PM

We are now in the final weeks of the doll house raffle, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The drawing for the lucky winner of this prize is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Sandpoint Library.

If you have not been into the Sandpoint Library since Oct. 1, you will be in for a treat as you walk through the front doors. There sits a large, three-story doll house that Friends of the Library member Helen Campbell conceived, built, decorated, and furnished about 20 years ago. When she was ready to pass it on, she generously donated it to The Friends of the Library for a fund-raiser. It has won prizes and in 1985, was valued at $1,200 for insurance purposes. One of the amazing things about this doll house is that it has drawn admirers of all ages, men and boys as well as women and girls. It has a life and an energy of its own. It seems to touch something inside each of us at a deeper level.

Go see it for yourself, let your imagination go, then buy your tickets ($2 each), available at the reference desk of the library. If you are the lucky winner of this prize, you may want to give it to someone else. Then again, you may wish to keep it for yourself. Either way, it will make a fabulous gift.
