Why wait, donate now
The need hasn't changed. In fact, it's gotten bigger.
There are more people, more families — and more children — who need are help than ever before. In the first week of signup for the Lions Club Toys for Tots campaign, several hundred families signed up to participate.
Lions Club officials estimate it will take $46,000 to pay for all the toys, gifts and Christmas dinner. So far, just over $6,000 has been raised.
Because of when Thanksgiving fell, there are fewer days in which to raise the money that will ensure everyone in the area has a merry Christmas.
The Lions Club is a small service organzation, says club president Jerry Martello, and it is the community that is truly responsible for the toys and food boxes that families receive.
"It is only with the generous support of individuals, businesses and organizations that we can reach out to brighten the holiday for the less fortunate in our area," Martello said.
With fewer days to pull it all together, procrastination isn't an option.
Donate today — and tomorrow, everyone can have a happy holiday.
