Hilding F. Brynteson, 91

Hilding F. Brynteson, 91, passed away in Kootenai, Idaho, on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Coffelt's Moon Chapel. Pastor Dick Vaughn of Bayview, Idaho, will officiate with interment following in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Services on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2004, from 3-6 p.m.

Hilding was born on April 6, 1913, in Kootenai. He was the son of Swedish immigrants, John and Hannah Brynteson. He attended school in Kootenai and Sandpoint High School.

Following high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in both the Aleutians and in Europe.

He was a woodsman, working in both the lumber and pole industries, retiring in about 1978. He had a private piece of timber property that he managed and logged.

He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed reading, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by a brother, Gustav (and Alice) Brynteson of Fox Island, Wash.; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jennie, Esther and Helen; and a brother, Oscar.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
