Hawks slip past Spartans

| December 21, 2004 8:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER — The Spartan wrestlers were hoping for an early Christmas present in their Tuesday night match up, but the grinch stole the victory from them. The Lakeland Hawks clinched the victory 42-36 in non-league action.

"The guys wrestled very hard tonight. We were missing two key wrestlers, Kelly Miller and Isaac Meyers, which might have been the difference between a win and a loss tonight," said Spartan coach, Brandon Keinert. "Ryan Miller had an outstanding match against Thomas Henderson. Henderson is currently ranked at number one in the Panhandle. Miller's win should move him into the top spot."

"Ray Hinshaw, Mike Ramsey, and Richie Morales also wrestled extremely well in tough matches, winning by pins," he added. The Spartans will host Kettle Falls on Dec. 28 at PRLHS at 5 p.m. before the NW Champions meet in Sandpoint on Jan. 7 and 8.
