Government dictates our quality of life

| July 1, 2004 9:00 PM

Beyond any reasonable doubt, whatsoever, the Sand Creek bypass will be made "insignificant" in relieving traffic congestion but will change the character of Sandpoint forever and ever.

The proactive progressive concepts of the real estate developers and builders will increase the population, traffic, public services, etc., etc. Local traffic will abound.

It's the same old story — over years the clever promoters sell their concept with seemingly logical justifications … thence a poll is taken, and surprise, surprise, a majority of influenced citizens vote in favor of "progress." Most amazing. Money, money, money is triumphant.

Pro-bypass (Sand Creek) citizens should spend a couple days in Carson City, Nev., to objectively observe the chaos in their bypass construction. Like war, in the end, everyone loses except the instigators.

A definition of totalitarianism: "You can't beat City Hall." Right? The government dictates "quality of life."
