LEWISTON - Riley Creek Lakers open the Fourth of July tournament in Lewiston with a pair of tough losses.

| July 3, 2004 9:00 PM

Lewiston was first to take a wack at Sandpoint as they pounded seven hits for a 5-1 victory on Thursday.

"Right now it seems as though we can't buy a hit," said Riley Creek coach Rick Klontz. "We played pretty good we just can't seem to get our offense going."

Day two proved to be even harder, as Boise rallied past the Lakers 14-2.

"We basically didn't come to play in this game (Friday)," said Klontz. "Two weeks ago we beat these guys 8-5 and lost 7-6 and today they flat out put the wood to us. It's discouraging at this point in the season that we aren't playing better baseball."
