Community will rally behind attack victim

| July 11, 2004 9:00 PM

I am sitting here pondering the incredible lack of empathy which was allegedly displayed by three to five young men who so brutally attacked a young man of our community.

I am referring of course to the unprovoked attack of Jeffrey Dean Anson in Clark Fork. I apologize to Jeffrey as well as his entire family for this horrible crime that has been committed.

While I considerthe possibilities of how the character of these young men may allegedly have been shaped I cannot help but wonder at the possible lack of parental education of these young men as to what is required to be considered a reputable citizen of any community.

Why did no one see this coming? Did those involved feel the mob mentality they displayed would not be held accountable against them? How could anyone join into this sort of attack?

I sincerely hope that Jeffrey is able to recover from his injuries. I sincerely hope that those who perpetrated this crime will be held accountable and serve the most severe punishment possible.

We will be contributing to the fund for Jeffrey at U.S. Bank and are confident that all of those good citizens who do reside in this community as well as neighboring communities will do the same.
