'Tis the season for painting
It seems like every summer my wife has special "Honey Do" that requires me to paint something and of course it seems like paint just migrates everywhere. Below are a few suggestion that may make life a little easier:
1. Make your own paint caddy by getting an old bleach or laundry detergent bottle and cutting a window in it just large enough to fit a paint brush. This will allow the brush to be loaded with paint without making a mess. Also the pour spout will allow you to pour leftover paint back into the can.
2. When mixing paint with an electric drill and a mixing paddle, place the can into a paper grocery bag. If the paint spills or splatters; which always happens, you won't get paint on the floor, yourself, or nearby objects.
3. I love coffee cans because they are so dog gone useful. For small painting jobs, take a coffee can and cut the plastic lid in half. Take half of the lid and tape it down on the coffee can so it can't move. Use the cut edge of the lid to scrape off excessive paint which will prevent it from dripping.
If you are allergic to any of the above products, please don't use them. Always test fabrics and paints before using any chemical compounds. Please remember to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands and eye protection for your eyes.
