New taxes not needed

| July 28, 2004 9:00 PM

I won't be able to attend the commission meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 2:30 p.m. where input will be given by those without jobs concerning the public funding of the private-for profit Big Sky ambulance service.

Of course, the tax, when presented for a majority binding vote wouldn't be collected until early next year anyway.

I am more in favor of ousting Big Sky in favor of a service run by a joint fire department/hospital effort that isn't out for profit.

Besides, if a million a year were collected by this new tax, then where would the rest go if Big Sky says it needs only an additional $55,000 or so a year?

To interested parties, I can send you a copy of the court case by Big Sky against Sagle as I mentioned in my last letter. I'm in the book.

With the increasing evaluations, the city maxing out its taxes early this year and now the county eying doing the same along with the coming huge increase in garbage, water and sewer rates, I'm beginning to feel like those people in the credit card commercials who talks with the voice of the person who ripped them off and ran up a big bill.
