Pearl Marie April, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Sandpoint.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel.

Pearl was born on Sept. 1, 1919, in Northport, Wash., the daughter of Jacob and Sanna (Pakka) Koski.

Pearl was an avid bingo player and she bowled on several bowling teams. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for more than 50 years.

She enjoyed being with, and doing things with, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peal also spent many years taking care of several elderly Finnish friends and did some interpreting for the non-English speaking Finnish people in the area.

In her younger years, Pearl and her husband, Jim, whom she married on Aug. 15, 1935, in Newport, Wash., enjoyed picking huckleberries, camping and traveling, especially to Reno and Jackpot, Nev.

In recent years, Pearl loved to watch the Atlanta Braves and the Seattle Mariners baseball teams on television. She also enjoyed her many friends and staff at Valley Vista Care Center for the past nine years.

Pearl is survived by three children, Jim (Sandy) April Jr. of Walla Walla, Wash., Nanci Tullos of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Pat Sauer of Sandpoint; and eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim; a daughter, Naomi Townsend; a son-in-law, Bill Tullos; two grandsons, Rick Sauer and Tim Townsend; six brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
