| June 15, 2004 9:00 PM

Dave Dorval, 41, passed away, Sunday, June 13, 2004, in Sandpoint.

An informal memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Sam Owen State Park on the Hope Peninsula at the Pavilion Picnic Area. We will gather to celebrate Dave's life and to share our precious memories of him.

Dave was born on Dec. 14, 1962, in Orange, N.J., to Dee and Karen Dorval. Dave and his family moved to Oregon in 1965; he spent his childhood there, and in Alaska and California. He made Idaho his home in 1990. In 1994, he met and later married Patti Holt in Sandpoint.

A master carpenter, Dave worked for many years for McMahon & Easterbrook Custom Building, working primarily in the Hope area for his good friend and mentor, Dan McMahon.

Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and horseback riding with his family and friends. He was most happy when he was outdoors. He will be greatly missed for his terrific sense of humor and his uncanny ability to write his own version of lyrics to just about any song.

He is survived by his mother, Karen (Larry) Olson of Sandpoint; his wife, Patti Dorval of Sandpoint; two daughters, Gabrielle and Lizzie Dorval of Sandpoint; a son, Logan Dorval of Sandpoint; a brother, Brian (Lana) Dorval of Sandpoint; a sister, Renee Dorval of Vancouver, Wash., an uncle, Bill Knieps of Petoskey, Mich.; nieces, Tawnya, Michelle, Nicole and Sierra Dorval of Sandpoint and Boise; his mother-in-law, Pat Holt of Sandpoint; and a special grandmother, Evy Moore of Laclede.

He is preceded in death by his father Dee Dorval.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. An account has been established at Horizon Credit Union.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Dave's memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign his online guest book.
