Babe Ruth all-stars come out swinging

SANDPOINT — The Panhandle Babe Ruth All-Stars started off the post season with a 5-2 win over the Lewiston 14-year-olds on seven hits, seven left on base and two errors.

Tyler Lichty went the distance recording six strikeouts, four walks and

allowing only four hits.

Coach Bob Lichty said, "They looked good for being the first game together as a team. They need more work and will only get better as the post season goes on."

This coming weekend, the all-stars are hosting their annual Fourth of July Firecracker tournament.

On July 9-10 they go to districts.

This summer Sandpoint is hosting the State Tournament July 21-24 at Memorial Field. Panhandle is automatically in, since they are hosting.
