Mickinnick Trail will be asset to area

| March 1, 2004 8:00 PM

This letter is in support of the proposed Mickinnick Trail. The multi-purpose trail that will be located near the Bonner County Fairgrounds on Greenhorn Mountain is the result of a donation of 160 acres to the Forest Service by Nicky and Mick Pleass. The trail will be 3.5 miles (one way) with scenic overlooks of Sandpoint. Hikers, horseback riders and other non-motorized trail users will experience diverse wildlife and scenery.

A few neighbors in the vicinity of the trail have expressed concern about increased activities in the area. For more than 30 years, we lived close to the Illinois Prairie Path, which is a multi-purpose trail located in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Not only was it a pleasure to use this path but those that lived near the Prairie Path saw their land values appreciate.

The Mickinnick Trail will be an asset to Sandpoint and Bonner County. We hope the Bonner County commissioners will approve this project.
