Armand W. Gendreau, 83, passed away in Sandpoint on Saturday, March 6, 2004.

The vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in Coffelt's Moon Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis C. Day will be the celebrant with interment following in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Armand was born June 27, 1920, in Scobey, Mont., where he went to school.

He also lived in Canada and North Dakota prior to serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Theresa Gamache in Kalispell, Mont., on April 7, 1947. He trained in the dry cleaning and laundry trade, owning and operating laundry/dry cleaning businesses in Kalispell, Mont., and Orofino.

In 1953, he moved to Sandpoint and established Modern Cleaners on Main Street. He operated the business until retiring in 1991.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 589.

Armand enjoyed camping and had built his own pickup camper. He also liked hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two children, Ronnie Gendreau of Centreville, Va., and Diana Gilbert of Bothell, Wash.; three grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert Gendreau of Kalispell, Mont.; and a sister, Edna Burke of Anderson, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa; a brother; and two sisters.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Services, Inc. of Sandpoint.
