Mildred Ann West, 87

Mildred Ann West, 87, 1612 16th St. NW, Minot, and formerly of Gallup, N.M., and Sandpoint, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in her home.

Visitation was held from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2025 9th St. NW in Minot. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Gallup, N.M.

Mildred Ann Glusica was born Dec. 19, 1916, the daughter of Spaso and Yanja (Dobrovich) Glusica in Hibbing, Minn. She was the oldest of five children.

She was raised in Hibbing and attended school in Carson Lake, Minn. After school she would assist her family with the daily operations of the family farm.

Mildred was married to Leslie E. West on Oct. 1, 1943, in Hibbing, Minn. They made their home there until 1946, when they moved to Gallup, N.M. Leslie was employed on the railroad and Mildred was employed as a waitress and later as a restaurant manager. She retired in 1974.

Leslie died on Feb. 29, 1988. Mildred continued to reside in Gallup until 1996, when she moved to Sandpoint. In August 2003, she moved to Minot to be closer to her family.

Mildred loved her animals and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and embroidery. She especially enjoyed the precious time spent with her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes a daughter, Dr. Leslie (Dr. Charles) Gasser of Minot; a son, Ronald (Jeanette) West of Gallup, N.M.; grandchildren, Jennifer Gasser, Katherine Gasser and her fiance Mark Lyman, Christopher, Stephanie and Stephen Gasser and Rhonda West of Gallup, N.M.; sisters: Violet (Matt) Stimac of Hibbing, Minn., and Mary (Charles) Louko of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Robert Glusica of Hibbing, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and a son, Donald West.
