Local Master Swimmers compete in Spokane
SPOKANE — Eric Ridgway and Annette Orton, representing the Sandpoint West Athletic Club, did well at the Inland Northwest Masters Swim Meet, held Feb. 21.
Ridgway finished first in his age group (40-44) in the 500-yard freestyle and the 200 individual medley. He was second in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 freestyle. He had some very fast competition.
Orton, who did five events, finished first in her age group (70-74) in the 100 butterfly, the 200 backstroke and the 500 freestyle. She was second in the 200 breaststroke.
In the 100 butterfly, Orton earned extra points for her club by setting a new Inland Northwest Masters Swim record in her age group.
The Inland Northwest masters area is comprised of 10 Masters Swim Clubs including Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, British Columbia, Wenatchee and Pullman.
The Northwest Zone Championship competition will be held in Corvallis, Ore. on May 1-2.
