Bengals sweep Bulldogs

| March 22, 2004 8:00 PM

Lewiston 6-6, Sandpoint 1-1 — Mental mistakes proved to be Sandpoint's biggest problem as they racked up a total of 11 errors in two games against the Bengals at Church Field in Lewiston.

Right off the bat, Lewiston took advantage of Sandpoint fielding errors to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the series opener.

"We've only had two days on the field," said Sandpoint head coach Dave Sieman, who expects the errors to subside as the season gets into full swing. "We also need to work on hitting, but we have a lot of potential."

Jeremy Way led the Bulldogs offensive effort with a double in the fourth inning of the opener. He then hit a triple in the sixth inning of game two, which was followed by and RBI from Chris Karle to give Sandpoint its only run of the game.

Sandpoint (0-5) plays host to Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday at Memorial Field.
