Snafu on dates causes headaches.

Romeo and Juliet performed today

Since you asked, I am planning on voting yes today on the replacement levy. Even though I don't have children in the public school system right now, those children are our future and they deserve to have the best education possible. I don't know all of the people who voted to support the schools when I was a youngster. I feel an obligation to help all the children now in our school system just like those adults did when I was a student.

Besides, Mark Berryhill and the board of trustees need a fair chance to get out of the starting gate. There are more reasons to vote yes than no this time around.

If you planned on attending the Idaho Shakespeare Festival performance last night at the Panida — it wasn't there.

The calendar-challenged performers had Sandpoint's performance inked in on Monday, March 23. When asked six months ago by Panida maven Karen Bowers which day the performance really was, Monday, March 22, or Tuesday, March 23, she received a resounding "yes."

The posters and all the information that followed from the festival folks had the performance slated for last night. The same night they were performing in Orofino.

It's tonight, 7 p.m. and tickets are available at the door, Main Stage Cafe or Pack River Potions.

It's also a shame that Bowers' stress-relieving vacation to Mexico was instantly forgotten when she arrived home over the weekend to discover the snafu.

It looks like Home Depot will open in January, if all goes well. The Bee online poll garnered 367 votes. The question was: "Do you think Home Depot coming to Ponderay is a good idea?" The answer was 76.3 percent yes to 23.7 percent no.

Some of the comments included this from Philip Role:

"I suggest those who want a strip mall here should move to Post Falls and

Coeur d Alene where they probably live and work anyway. I sense the

ballots are stuffed by company employees and are not the true feelings of

the community. "

Our redesigned Web site also had this comment from Linda and George Harper:

"We have been reading the Bee on the internet for quite awhile. We really liked the old format, but do not like the new format. Why did you change it?

"We live in Arizona full time now and enjoy catching up on all the goings on in Sandpoint. Just thought we would give you our thoughts.

We are enjoying wonderful weather and golfing a lot!"

This week's question: "Which candidate do you plan on supporting in the November election?" I didn't include Howard Dean or Ralph Nader in the poll mainly because support or a vote for either one is really a vote for President Bush. This has been a paid political announcement…

Dr. Becker, who lives near Porthill on the Almost Heaven Ranch, picked several local writers for his recent Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul. Wife, Teresa Becker (first time author), Boots Reynolds (author and illustrator), and Marguerite Suttmeier (horse lover) all made print.

Don't pussy foot around and send in your best story.

I'm still waiting for the Chicken Soup for the Vegetarian Lover's Soul book. Becker didn't laugh when I mentioned that either.
