Area teams converge on Post Falls for annual coed relays
POST FALLS — Priest River's Chris Person won the 100 meters, the 200 and the 400 in in the eight-team Christina Finney Co-ed Relays Thursday at Post Falls High School.
But the Sandpoint Bulldogs picked their spots and competed well, finishing fifth.
This year's meet was co-ed only in name and that meant officials combined boys and girls team scored for the final team standings.
The Bulldogs won the boys portion with a final score of 105 and the girls added 41.
Lake City won the meet with 195.5, followed by Post Falls ( 169), Coeur d'Alene (159), Lewiston (150.5) and Sandpoint (146) to round out the top five.
Priest River finished seventh with a score of 95.5.
Spartan sprinter Chris Person defeated the 100-meter field with a time of 11.05. Dan Parrish of Sandpoint was second in 11.49.
Chris Person blew away the field in the 200, clocking 23.02. He also won the 400 meters with a time of 50.91.
Sandpoint hurdlers Roger Blair and Blake Mahler placed second and third, respectively in the 110-meter high hurdles. Dustin Hoogland won the pole vault (13-feet-6) and Steve Wold took top honors in the long jump (18-10).
The Bulldogs dominated the field events. Troy Watson won the shot put with a throw of 50-feet and Dwayne Beyers was second in the discus.
In the girls meet, Amy Dyck defeated a quality field in the 100 meters with a time of 12.60 seconds. Priest River's Ashley Rey clocked a 28.31 to finish second in the 200 meters.
Chanel Garcia ran a 1:06.33 to finish third in the 400 meters. Brittany Marks of Priest River was sixth in 1:08.76.
Ashley Ludden was fifth in the 3,200 (13:28.66).
