Spartans split twin bill with LadyTigers

PRIEST RIVER—The Lady Spartans shared the glory with the visiting Timberlake Tigers in Intermountain League action on Saturday. The Tigers won the opener 4-2, and the Spartans came back in the second game to squeak past 5-4. The Spartans will host the Lakeland Hawks at home on May 4 at 4 p.m. The Kellogg Wildcats will play on the Spartan turf on May 7 at 2 p.m.

The Tigers started off with a run in the first inning to lead the Spartans until the sixth inning. The Spartan's Jessica Curry had a homerun for the Spartans and Ashley Sturgill and Lesa Barber had doubles to lead the team.

The Spartans and Tigers were evenly matched with good defensive performances until the fourth inning when the Spartans exploded with four runs. Lesa Barber had a triple and three singles for the Spartans and Kristin Yount had three singles to lead the Spartans lucky 13 hits for the game.
