Vikings sweep 'Dogs

COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d'Alene girls swept Sandpoint in seven matches to help the Vikings beat the Bulldogs.

Marki Grimsley led Coeur d'Alene with her 6-2, 6-3 win over Sandpoint's Zibby Keaton. In doubles, Kristin Galante and Kara Eberle had no trouble in their 6-1, 6-1 win over Heather Mulliner and Jennifer Johnson.

The boys team did not win any matches, but the Vikings won both mixed doubles matches to give them the win.

The doubles team of Phil Aldridge and Scott Simpson were ahead in their match 7-5, 2-1 before Simpson inured his ankle and was forced to withdraw. The extent of his injury was not yet known.

On Wednesday, the girls team plays at lake City and the boys host the Timberwolves.
