SWAC's old workout equipment goes to the 'dogs
SANDPOINT — In an effort to make room for a new upgrade to his facility, Sandpoint West Athletic Club owner Don Helander was able to find a good home for several pieces of used workout equipment last month.
All it took was a little muscle and a group of Sandpoint High School students packed away the donation that will be put to good use by the Bulldogs.
"We are thrilled," said Sandpoint athletic director Cheryl Klein. "As far as our weight training facility is concerned, we've been very much in need of a more cardio oriented capability. And this is really going to complement what we have with our free-weights."
Among the list of donated equipment was several stair stepper machines and stationary bikes.
"Those will make a good combination for our circuit training system," she said. "It will also be very useful to help cross train athletes.
"It was overwhelming generosity. This was something that we couldn't have afforded to do, and all the stuff is in great shape."
