OeIs safety glass the answer?

A week ago my grandson, while attending Southside Elementary School, tripped while walking down an aisle at the school and put his hand and arm through a window, causing a nasty gash on his arm.

Most all school are now one-floor high. What bothers me is when schools are built — why are they not making sure the windows are of safety glass to protect our young people?
