Clark Fork, Wallace qualify for state golf tournament
SANDPOINT — David Kilbourne shot a 9-over-par 80 to lead the Wallace boys to the 1A, 2A District 1 and 2 Golf Championship Tuesday at Hidden Lakes Golf Resort.
The Miners slid past second place Clark Fork 370-397. Both teams qualify for the state tournament next Monday and Tuesday at the Orofino Golf and Country Club. Orofino has an automatic berth as host team.
Leading the girls, Cara Hayman of Wallace finished first with a score of 107. Post Falls Christian's Sophie Salamina finished second overall with a 112 to earn the only other state berth. No girls' teams qualified for state.
The Wampus Cat boys were led by Nathan Allen who finished with an 81. Shooting an 84, Dustin Christensen of Wallace placed third overall.
Leading the Wampus Cat girls was Tiffany Van Buren, who was fourth overall with a score of 126.
