MOSCOW — A trying year for the Sandpoint softball team finally ended Wednesday with a 9-1 victory by Moscow in the opening round of the 4A Region I tournament.

Seniors Leslie Lovell knocked in Sandpoint's lone run, while Kylie Groenhout finished with a triple and a single. Senior Kelly Cox also had a hit.

No. 2 seed Moscow rallied 12 hits in the opening round victory and will now face the No. 1 Trojans in Post Falls today.
