Richard Gerald McClelland, 67, died unexpectedly May 6, 2004, at his home in Meadow Vista, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at the First Congregational Church, 710 Auburn Ravine Rd., Auburn, Calif.
Dick was born Jan. 10, 1937, to Jerry and Irene McClelland in Spokane. Dick went to Sandpoint school from age 9, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1955.
After serving in the Navy, Dick spent most of his career as a glass blower at Fairchild Semiconductor in Mountain View, Calif.
Of his many activities, including dirt biking, rafting, snow/water skiing, his lifelong love of cars was overriding. He was active in the Porsche Club of America and spent more than 20 years racing and as a high speed instructor at tracks from Laguna Seca near Monterey and Button Willow at Bakersfield to Thunderhill and Sears Point north of San Francisco.
He is survived by two brothers, Lloyd of Sandpoint and Tom of Newman Lake, Wash./Hemet, Calif.; five children, Patti of Indiana, Sally Jean of San Mateo, Calif., Cheryl and Bob of Watsonville, Calif., and Richard of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
