BOISE — With Tim Neidhardt, Liam Orton, Logan Jones-Olson, Kelsey James and Geoff Klein leading the way, the Sandpoint High School tennis team brought home a second place 4A state trophy last weekend.

In just their second season offering tennis, the Bulldogs had a boys singles state champ, Neidhardt, and a boys doubles state champ, Orton and Jones-Olson.

"Tim did great, but for those boys (Orton and Jones-Olson) to win the doubles championship was really a feat," said Sandpoint coach Cheryl Klein.

Geoff Klein and James finished third in mixed doubles action.

"I know we shocked some people," said Cheryl Klein. "Out of the number of kids we brought, we were by far the most successful."

The state champion Bishop Kelly Knights, despite having no one in the finals, were able to secure the 4A tennis title by sheer numbers.

"Bishop Kelly qualified so many kids, we were just out numbered," she added.
