Karl William Fuge, 91

Karl William Fuge, 91, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1900 W. Pine St., with Pastor Steve Nickodemus officiating.

Karl was born on July 14, 1913, in West Bend, Wis., the son of Herbert and Lydia (Koepcke) Fuge. He grew up there and attended schools, graduating from college at the University of Wisconsin with a degree in structural engineering and applied his knowledge of his profession in many areas. He owned and operated a design and build firm in Fort Atkinson, Wis., for more than 20 years. He closed his firm in 1971 and join international firms in Chicago, Ill., Kansas City and Frankfort, Germany.

Karl married Frankie on Feb. 22, 1983, in Edinburgh Scotland, and resided in Frankfort, Germany. They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1990 for the four seasons of the area and enjoyed the lake and the mountains. Karl enjoyed his life to the fullest, both personally and professionally.

He retired due to health reasons in 1996 and moved to Life Care Center of Sandpoint on Jan. 5, 1998.

He was a member of the Lions Club in Wisconsin and Sandpoint and Prime Timers in Sandpoint. He also served in various leadership positions, including the choir at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Fuge of Sandpoint; a daughter, Ellen Fuge of Mahtomedi, Minn.; a son, Bill (Barbara) Fuge of Rushville, N.Y.; two brothers, Paul (June) Fuge of Scotts Valley, Calif., and Richard (Maxine) Fuge of Pahrump, Nev.; his first wife, Marilla Fuge of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; and his stepchildren, Susan (Bill) Daily of Springfield, Mo., and Kathy (Paul) Howard of St. Louis, Mo.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Life Care Center and special friend, Charles Glock, for their loving care of Karl.

Memorials may be made to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church building fund or music fund.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
