Post Falls 34, Priest River 22

POST FALLS — The Post Falls defense held Priest River to just five total field goals in Tuesday night's nonleague game.

Trojan freshman Jenny McVeigh was 4 of 7 from the field, including one from beyond the arc, to lead Post Falls with 10 points.

"We opened a gap in the third and pulled away in the fourth, but it was a real tough defensive battle," Post Falls coach Chris Johnson said. "I thought Jenny McVeigh played well tonight. She's just a freshman, but she shot the ball well."

Rachel Schlechte led the Spartans with eight points. Priest River was 12 of 16 from the free-throw line.

Post Falls plays at Lake City Nov. 30.

Lakeland 60, Bonners Ferry 30

RATHDRUM — The host Hawks pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Badgers 25-2 in the nonleague game.

A mixture of a full-court press and and better execution in the half-court defense helped Lakeland (2-0) outscore Bonners Ferry (0-3) 36-8 in the second half.

"They did great defensively in the second half," Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said.

Brigitte Boucher had 12 points to lead Lakeland. Jessie Bartlett and Natalie Nichols keyed the defense with four steals each. Bartlett also had eight points and four assists. Mindy Meyer had six points and five boards.

Becky Lowther scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half for Bonners Ferry. Katie Poston added seven points and six boards.

Lakeland plays host to Priest River on Saturday.
