Velma Selina Coffelt, 90, passed away in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Summer's Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, in Boise, Idaho. Dale Coffelt will officiate with interment tofollow in Dry Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Summer's Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel.
Velma was born on Oct. 29, 1914, in Gate, Okla., the daughter of Frederick and Bessie Berends. She lived in Springfield, Colo., until moving to Caldwell, Idaho, at the age of 7. She attended schools in Springfield, Colo., and Caldwell, Idaho.
She married Kenneth L. Coffelt on Oct. 18, 1936, in Caldwell, Idaho. She had lived in Placerville and Atlanta, Idaho, moving to Emmett, Idaho, in 1943. She lived on a small farm west of Emmett. She moved back to Emmett in 1959 and, in 1983, moved to Boise.
For many years she was a 4-H leader in sewing, receiving many awards. She was active in the Vanderdasson School Parents Association, supporting athletics and school programs. She was a member of the Followers of Christ Church.
She enjoyed her family, her gardens, sewing and canning for her family.
She is survived by two children, Dale (and Nancy) Coffelt of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Ardis Ellsworth of Boise; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Flloyd Berends of Oregon City, Ore.; special friends, Marvin and Marlene Hill of Boise; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth; three brothers, Allen, Onda and Eldon; and a sister, Effie Smith.
