Thanksgiving offers chance to honor family
Over the years, from the time of the Pilgrims, Thanksgiving has changed a bit. Still, of course, one of the best holidays in the year, but now we learn more so to a different meaning for thanksgiving.
It's a time of joy and gratefulness, a time to remember the last Turkey that was set upon the table. A time to shop for the largest turkey of all and, in a very innocent way, a time to break low-cholesterol diets. A time for smiles and laughs, a time to impress upon young minds the importance of taking a break in life strictly for family.
A time to remember the faces from past Thanksgivings who are no longer there and to still see the same dish of food they always brought before they passed away because a loving family member still makes it in their remembrance. Truly a last supper, this holiday is the first loop of the last loop of a bow that wraps up the years in true thanks.
But, most importantly, it means that for another year, we get to look upon and feel the warmth of at least one person who holds a spot in our minds and hearts and who reminds us to give thanks that we are human.
