Moscow edges Sandpoint

MOSCOW — Sandpoint came up just short in an Inland Empire League volleyball matchup against Moscow, falling 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23 at Bear Den on Thursday night.

Second-place Moscow improves to 6-3 in the IEL, 11-5 overall. Fourth-place Sandpoint is 4-5, 11-7.

"We played really well, now we just need to find a way to win," said Bulldog coach Tiwi Nicks. "Moscow played very strong."

Nicks praised the play of her reserves, saying it helped keep the Bulldogs in the match.

"Overall, we played great, we just have to figure out how to win," Nicks said. "We just didn't play up to our potential."

Kelsey James lead the Bulldogs with 15 kills and 15 assists, and Cody Helander added 32 digs and three aces. Caitlyn Free had four blocks.

Sandpoint plays at the Crossover Classic in Spokane on Saturday.
