Elaine Savage has proven experience

| October 10, 2004 9:00 PM

The general election on Tuesday, Nov. 2, is rapidly approaching. We have three candidates running for the office of sheriff of Bonner County. I feel that only one of them is adequately qualified and competent. Elaine Savage has had 23 years of law enforcement experience. She has come up through the ranks and was chief of police in Priest River and is currently Bonner County undersheriff. She attended the FBI Command College in 1999.

Elaine has had much administrative experience, which is vitally important in managing over 100 people and is, I feel, the only candidate capable of handling a budget of approximately $4 million. A competent sheriff must not only know the law enforcement side, but must also be an administrator. The other candidates do not come close to having the experience our undersheriff has. Don't just vote for a "good ol' boy."

I urge you to vote for the candidate who is best qualified and the most capable person for the important job of sheriff — Elaine Savage.
