Yoga studio celebrates move

| October 11, 2004 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — The Yoga Studio has recently moved and is now located in the brand new Syringa Creek Building located on Division near Baldy. To become acquainted with yoga and the instructors, free yoga classes will be offered the week of Oct. 25-28.

The new studio is set up to accommodate yoga workshops and the yoga community at large.

Currently, four yoga teachers as well as a "Pilates" and "Nia" instructor teach at the new location and present nineteen classes each week. The classes are scheduled at different levels and times each day.

Linda Ries, director of the studio, has studied and taught yoga for nearly 15 years. She opened The Yoga Studio in Sandpoint in 2000, and in her practice and classes combines the Iyengar and the Anusara styles of yoga.

"I've watched it happen again and again. People come to yoga in search of more flexibility or strength, which they gain of course. But then something else happens," she said. "They develop a passion and begin to step into a life of greater joy, connection and courage. Yoga can be a doorway to all of that."

Her vision at The Yoga Studio is to bring together the yoga community of Sandpoint.

"We are open to include all the different styles of yoga and its instructors and students."
