All of Bonner County celebrating Homecoming

| October 14, 2004 9:00 PM

From the perspective of a high school senior, one of the biggest nights of the year is Homecoming. With that in mind, Bonner County will be hopping Friday night when Sandpoint, Priest River and Clark Fork each experience that right of passage.

The Bulldogs of Sandpoint will be hosting the Moscow Bears, while Clark Fork tackles Post Falls Christian. The Spartans entertain Kellogg.

Moscow (0-0, 1-5)

at Sandpoint (0-0, 5-1)

After a disappointing loss to Lake City last week in Coeur d'Alene, the Bulldogs will be raring to go in their league opener against Moscow. The Bears have found little success this year, and odds are extremely slim that things will be any different tonight at Memorial Field… The Bulldogs will also be looking to add another win in preparation for the showdown will currently undefeated Post Falls (6-0) in the last game of the regular season on Oct. 29.

Post Falls Christian (1-2, 1-5)

at Clark Fork (3-0, 6-0)

The undefeated Wampus Cats will likely remain that way with a Homecoming victory tonight in Clark Fork. The Post Falls Christian Eagles should survive the first half, but Clark Fork will likely end things early due to the eight-man football 45-point rule. The win for coach Frank Hammersley and the boys will clinch the North Star League title and cement their state playoff hopes.

Kellogg (0-1, 2-4)

at Priest River (0-2, 1-4)

Looking for their first league victory of the season, Priest River will be playing for pride tonight and a chance to move past Kellogg in the Intermountain League standings.

Bonners Ferry (3-4)

at Timberlake (4-2)

The Badgers, younger than last year's senior-laden squad, are led by quarterback Sam Botkin and running back Matt Bennett. … Bonners lost 27-20 six weeks ago to Lakeland, a team Timberlake destroyed 38-7. … If Bonners wins, the Badgers would only have to win at Kellogg next week to make the playoffs. Timberlake still has road games with St. Maries and Kellogg to wrap up the IML season.
