Elgar unwilling to discuss byway

| October 18, 2004 9:00 PM

In a recent candidate forum, Steve Elgar was asked to state his position on the Sand Creek Byway. He refused to answer the question stating that there are more important things to consider and that the byway is not an issue equivalent to the Rock Creek Mine.

My question is this: Do we want a representative in the state Legislature who does not consider $40 million important? Do we want a representative who is unwilling to address a project that is going to have a life changing impact on this district? Whether Steve Elgar agrees or disagrees with the byway is not the issue. The fact that he is unwilling to engage with the electorate is the issue.

Eric Anderson answered the question. Whether you agree or disagree with Eric on the byway is not the issue. The fact that he is willing to engage with the electorate and explain his positions is the issue. I want someone representing me in the Idaho Legislature who I can talk with about the issues, not someone who may decide to condescend at a time of their choosing to talk to us poor dumb hicks who get to vote.

I am voting for Eric Anderson.
