Elgar's stand on mine earns respect, vote

| October 18, 2004 9:00 PM

"Working hard and working together, we can make North Idaho an even greater place," is the slogan on Steve Elgar's Web site. It is fitting that he has chosen a slogan about work, because hard work is something he exemplifies.

I have never seen a candidate work as hard as he has at getting out and talking with people. Not only has he been present at every community meeting I have attended for months, I understand that in his campaign to knock on doors, he has already listened and spoken to citizens in 3,000 homes. I expect that anyone who would work this hard at getting elected would work even harder representing North Idaho in Boise.

In addition, he is not afraid to take a stand. He is one of the few who has come out definitively in opposition to the Rock Creek Mine, one of the greatest threats to our environment and our beautiful community. He has earned my vote.
