Jeanne Remy Sisson, 89, passed away in New York state on July 24, 2004.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in the Hope Cemetery in Hope, Idaho. The Rev. Timothy J. O'Donovan will officiate.

Jeanne was born in Paris, France, on Feb. 17, 1915. She was a child in France during the battles of World War I. During World War II, she and her family packed up and moved south from Paris to Toulouse, France. On Aug. 6, 1944, DeGaulle and the Allies re-entered the liberated city.

She married Stanley H. Sisson on Aug. 30, 1845, in France. They moved to Wisbarden, Germany, and Stan worked in the rebuilding of the war-torn countries. They would travel in Germany, Luxembourg and France to do their shopping. They enjoyed hunting game in the forests of Germany, including the wild boar.

In 1961, they moved to Hope, Idaho, and Stanley passed away in 1979. She later moved to New Hartford, N.Y. She continued reading the French newspapers and magazines.

Although she did not hunt anymore, she enjoyed feeding and watching the deers and turkeys in her backyard. She traveled the world and saw many years of history in the making.

She is survived by her family, Dan and Peter Hubbell.

Final arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
