Sandpoint 2 Post Falls 0

SANDPOINT — Angie Menghini and Elle Carne scored first-half goals as No. 1 seed Sandpoint defeated No. 4 Post Falls 2-0 in a loser-out game in the 4A Region 1 tournament at Memorial Field.

"This was definitely one of the better games we've played against Sandpoint," Post Falls coach Julia Rendall said. "For any team, 2-0 against Sandpoint is a decent, decent score."

Makayla Desjarlais made 10 saves for Post Falls, which finished 10-8-1.

"Their keeper played great and made some nice saves," Sandpoint coach Adam Tajan said.

Sandpoint (13-2-3) plays host to Moscow (12-4-1) for the Region I title on Wednesday.

"I'm very happy with our season," said Rendall, whose squad posted a school record for wins. "We've come a long way and it's fun to finally come up here and play competitively."
