Get a handle on nasty odors
In today's fast paced society we often look for quick cures to solve problems and odor control is no different. As a young housekeeper, I like others would often grab the can of compressed scent to suppress nasty smells or offensive odors. Over the years I've Icarned the hard way that if there is an offensive odor there are active bacteria off gassing causing that smell.
I thought in this week's article I would provide you with some natural scent grabbers and suppressors, please use them after you have cleaned the affected area thoroughly:
A. Toothpaste — Many appliance stores and rental outlets clean their returning refrigerators with toothpaste. You'll be surprised at really how effective toothpaste is. Use a non-abrasive toothpaste applied to a sponge and wipe the surface thoroughly, it will he left sparkling and mint fresh.
B. Baking Soda — This product has been an odor control item for centuries. After cleaning & disinfecting the surface thoroughly place one cup of baking soda on a plate or in a bowl and place it in the item. The smell will be gone!
C. Charcoal — Active charcoal is an outstanding odor absorbent. Place on a plate and place in the refrigerator, and the odor will be gone.
D. Coffee — This stuff works well on strong smells. Place some freshly ground coffee into a small cup or saucer and place it in the refrigerator. You'll be pleasantly shocks at the end results.
If you are allergic to any of the above products, please don't use them. Always test fabrics and paints before using any chemical compounds. Please remember to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands & eye protection for your eyes.
